Always ask for advice from the person whose job, happiness or well-being is not dependent on you. Only such a person can give you truly unbiased and honest opinion.

However, the problem is that as you go higher up the ladder, the number of such people becomes less with every passing step. That explains why the kings and queens of history books took decisions that sound so ridiculous today.
